Discover Acrobatic Gymnastics: Tryouts for Kids Ages 5+ in Poway

Does your child cartwheel across the living room and climb on everything in sight? If so, that energy finally has a home. This July, SoCal TTC in Poway is opening its doors for acrobatic gymnastics tryouts, and we would love to meet your future athlete.

Acro is one of the most exciting sports that most families have never heard of. So let’s break down what it is, why kids love it, and how your child can give it a try.

What Is Acrobatic Gymnastics?

Acrobatic gymnastics, or “acro” for short, blends three things kids already love: dance, tumbling, and partner acrobatics. Instead of competing alone, athletes work in pairs or groups. Together, they lift, balance, and flip through routines set to music.

In other words, acro pairs the grace of dance with the power of gymnastics and the teamwork of cheer. As a result, it shapes a remarkably well-rounded young athlete.

Why Acro Is a Great Fit for Active Kids

Beyond the flips and the fun, acro teaches skills that last a lifetime. For starters, it develops strength, flexibility, and body control. On top of that, every routine depends on trust, so children quickly learn to communicate and rely on their teammates.

Just as importantly, acro builds confidence. Each new skill your child masters — a handstand, a balance, a first flight element — proves that hard work pays off. Meanwhile, the supportive team environment keeps practice feeling far more like play than pressure.

Who Should Try Out?

We welcome both boys and girls, ages 5 and up. Better yet, your child needs no prior experience to join us.

If your child already loves cheer, dance, gymnastics, or tumbling, then acro is a natural next step. However, brand-new athletes fit right in too. Our coaches know how to meet each child at their level and help them grow from there.

A Pathway from Poway to the World Stage

Here is what makes this program special: acro is not just a fun after-school activity. Instead, it is a competitive sport with a real pathway to the top.

Dedicated athletes can advance through local and regional meets, move on to national championships, and ultimately reach international competition. So while every child starts simply by having fun, the ceiling stays truly limitless. For the right athlete, these tryouts could mark the very first step toward the world stage.

Come Give Acro a Try

Spots fill quickly, so we encourage you to plan ahead. If your child has ever dreamed of flying through the air, then this is their chance to start.

We can’t wait to meet your athlete on the mat.
